I’ve reached a dead end on the Birth Certificate for now.. I don’t know yet whether I’m being pedantic about nothing.. This is what I am stuck on when transposing the Canadian wording on the birth certificate to Australia. .
This part has eluded me so far. .

I managed to trace it to this Canadian legislation:
Principles of law and equity apply
6 Except insofar as they are inconsistent with this Act, the principles of law and equity supplement this Act and continue to apply, including
(a) the law merchant,
(b) the law relating to the capacity to contract, principal and agent, estoppel, fraud, misrepresentation, duress, coercion and mistake, and
(c) other validating or invalidating rules of law.
Trying to find the Australian equivalent is doing my head in.. I need a fresh pair of eyes. Anybody got a lead for me.?
